Each location has their own challenges of woodland, heath and water but here, In your parent and child teams, you’ll learn Bear’s famous survival techniques: how to build and light a fire, how to navigate at night, foraging, water purification, building a shelter, extreme weather survival and river crossings, and the best ways to use a knife for survival. On day two, you’ll put these skills into action, following Bear’s ethos of self-rescue, by crossing difficult terrain back to civilisation. It’s an opportunity to bring you and your kids together through a truly memorable and fun experience.
Here are some of the skills and activities you will learn over the 24hrs:

Dartmoor, South West
The unforgiving but famously beautiful Dartmoor National Park landscape can be harsh, and has difficult terrain including rivers, woodlands, steep ascents to the many tors, and undulating countryside, as well as its own micro-climate. It is used by Britain’s elite Royal Marine Commandos for training exercises, due to the demands of the environment in both winter and summer conditions.
These items will all help you to survive! Please note, all of the clothing and equipment that you bring must be appropriate to the environment and the time of year. This is just a guide and you may not require all the kit. Your instructors will let you know what to take out into the wilderness on arrival-any extra kit can be secured at base camp.
